Sudden Death of Fr. Nicholaus Ngowi CPPS

Fr. Nicholaus Ndeghawio Ngowi died on Monday 9th September involved in a road accident at Mwanga in Kilimanjaro, few kilometres from Moshi town. Fr. Nicholaus was travelling from Mkula where he is currently assigned as Pastor in the Catholic Diocese of Ifakara Morogoro Region. According to the eye witness of the accident, it was caused by a collision of the car he was driving with a Bus.

Fr. Nicholaus Ndeghawio Ngowi was born in Marangu Moshi on October 30th 1970. He is the third son of Dismas Ngowi and Justina Kessy among eight children. He joined the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1994 and was definitively incorporated in 2003, ordained priest on May 16th 2004. Fr. Nicholaus had served in different locations of our Province including Tegeta, Mtongani, Boko, Itigi, and in the diocese of Kondoa. Fr. Nicholaus Ngowi was nominated Pastor of St. Peter and Paul Parish of Mkula in the Diocese of Ifakara since 2021 to date.

We thank God for the gift of life and Missionary vocation of Fr. Nicholas Ndeghawio Ngowi. God gave him many good gifts that he shared with many people who lived and ministered with him. Fr. Ngowi was gifted with an easy sense of humour, a cheerful and he was a hardworking priest. With his talent for preaching the word of God, people used to call him 'the voice of thunder'. Fr. Niko will be remembered as a person of great love and sensitive person to people’s needs, always ready to help those with various social and spiritual problems, especially those pushed to the margins of society.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday September 17th at Manyoni Parish Church presided over by Bishop Salutaris Libena of the Catholic diocese of Ifakara, participated by amny people, especially the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, nuns and Diocesan clergy from the Diocese of Singida, Dodoma and Kondoa.
