SIXTY YEARS ANNIVERSARY OF CPPS PRESENCE IN TANZANIA

The Tanzanian Province this year celebrates the sixty years of CPPS presence in Tanzania, an occasion to be grateful to God and to all who have had this dream of St. Gaspar Del Bufalo become a reality. To our mother Italian Province, to the missionary pioneers – Fr. Dino Gioia, Fr. Giuseppe Montenegro and Br. Franco Palumbo, to all who have spent their physical, spiritual and social energy to get the Good News of salvation reach the people of our Tanzanian land.

This important anniversary will be inaugurated on January 24th at Bl. Isidor Bhakanja Boko Parish in the new catholic diocese of Bagamoyo. On that occasion three of our new deacons will be ordained priests. The peak will be on July 1st and 2nd in Manyoni where the first Missionaries established our first CPPS presence. On that occasion four of our seminarians will be incorporated and ordained deacons. During the course of this Anniversary year the Relics of our Bl. Giovanni Merlini will be visiting each place of our CPPS presence in Tanzania. It is an occasion for our people to be acquitted with the life and example of a Missionary who was the champion of reconciliation and humble peace builder in the Church and society.

During these sixty years of CPPS presence in Tanzania the dream of St. Gaspar has come to reality in many ways: the good news of salvation has reached many thousands of souls and the most precious Blood has purified many more through parish work, retreats, social work of healing the sick, feeding the hungry and liberated the broken hearted.
